Cuckoo clock?

My cuckoo clock bought in Freiburg,Germany was working fine till yesterday. When I wanted to wind up the clock (it is a 8 day model) I noticed that the cuckoo (bird) has got stuck and does not move even after pulling the chain up.

Part 1 – There are many claims to the World’s Largest Cuckoo. According to Guinness, its in Wilmot, Ohio. An old claim, but actually is a building. Other claims are either billboards, signs, buildings, you name it. Our cuckoo is actually a Real cuckoo clock, with a real cuckoo movement, that is hand wound, handmade in the black forest of black forest trees.

Mr. Champion is correct. This is the largest true cuckoo clock, made by Dold. Their catalog has nice photos of the carving and construction. Any other larger “cuckoo clocks” such as Wilmot, Ohio, and a fair number in Germany, are large buildings built to look like clocks, with a functional clock and a number of motor-driven animated figures. While functional clocks, they’re not really traditional self-contained clocks which can be moved.

It’s like calling a clock tower carved to resemble a grandfather clock the “world’s largest grandfather clock” – it’s both true and not true, in different senses. This is the largest cuckoo clock in the sense of being a self-contained, technically portable clock having a mechanical movement with a pendulum, a carved wooden case, and a cuckoo driven by the movement with organ pipes to create the sound. This one is weight-driven and has the glockenspiel-type dancing figures with music box.
